RADON GAS SENSOR ZD100

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas. It is invisible and odourless and can accumulate in indoor spaces such as homes, offices, schools, healthcare facilities and underground areas.

Radon monitoring now plays an important role in building design and environmental safety. Italian Legislative Decree 203/2022 introduced updated regulations on protection against ionising radiation. The regulation defines basic safety standards to protect workers, the public and the environment.

The National Radon Action Plan was introduced in response to these requirements. The programme involves the Ministry of Health, ISIN, regional authorities and ARPA. Its main goals are:

  • reducing Radon exposure
  • helping prevent health risks, as Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking
  • identifying high-risk areas across Italy

To improve indoor air quality control in public and private buildings, specific annual average concentration levels have also been set:

  • 300 Bq/m³ for workplaces, public buildings and schools;
  • 200 Bq/m³ for residential buildings built after 31 December 2024.

For this reason, continuous Radon monitoring is becoming increasingly important in many application contexts, helping to ensure constant monitoring of gas concentration in indoor environments.

Applications

Residential buildings

Offices

Schools

Healthcare facilities

Underground areas

High-occupancy indoor spaces

Why choose it?

ZD100 is a high-reliability module developed for accurate Radon concentration monitoring, with low power consumption, fast response time and long operational life.

Its key innovation is the free-spread structure design, which allows gas to naturally enter the detection chamber without the use of fans or forced air sampling systems.

The module communicates via UART interface and can be easily integrated into a wide range of equipment and systems for environmental monitoring and building automation.
